BIOAIRO® Cabinet Air Handling Units

Three models cover 3000 to 10000 m³/h supply airflow, paired with a matched outdoor condensing unit. Each integrates cooling, heating, humidification, dual-stage filtration and UV-C sterilization in a single cabinet footprint of ≤ 50% of a conventional AHU.

Construction & specifications

A complete air-handling plant in one cabinet

The cabinet combines an aluminum post-and-frame double-skin enclosure, 50 mm polyurethane insulation and an EBM® EC brushless fan array with direct-drive backward-curved impellers. Inside are a copper direct-expansion coil with epoxy-coated aluminum fins, an electrode-type humidifier, G4 + F8 dual-stage filtration, a 304 stainless-steel condensate drain pan, PTC electric heater and UV-C sterilizer. A Siemens PLC with BMS integration runs the unit and reports CO₂, PM2.5, VOC and differential pressure in real time.

The BIOAIRO cabinet AHU is sized for the spaces where air quality directly affects outcomes: operating rooms, procedure rooms, isolation rooms, ICUs and pharmaceutical cleanrooms. The unit supplies filtered, conditioned air to ceiling-mounted laminar modules or room diffusers, maintaining the temperature, humidity and particle counts required by ISO 14644-1 and clinical ventilation guidelines.

System design

Cabinet AHU + laminar ceiling module in one room package

The unit sits in the corridor or plant space next to the operating room, avoiding the need for a dedicated AHU equipment room. Conditioned supply air is ducted to the ceiling-mounted laminar module, which distributes a unidirectional downflow over the surgical table. Return air paths, cooling/heating media and control wiring are coordinated with the modular room envelope.

Network integration

Connect multiple ORs to the building management system

Each operating-room control panel communicates with its cabinet AHU, and the complete fleet is brought back to the BMS through a standard network. Facilities teams can monitor temperature, humidity, pressure, airflow and alarms centrally, while each room retains local control for surgical staff.

The cabinet AHU is a single cabinet that integrates fan, coil, filter, humidifier, UV sterilization and controls, with a footprint ≤ 50% of a conventional AHU. It installs in the corridor or plant space without a dedicated equipment room, runs at lower noise and is ready for plug-and-play connection rather than on-site assembly.

G4 (pre-filter) + F8 (fine filter) as standard, achieving ≥ 99.95% particle filtration. For cleanrooms above ISO Class 7, upgrade the fine-filter stage to H13 or H14 HEPA.
