Ceiling Laminar AC & Disinfection System — Technical Q&A

Answers to the technical questions most often asked by contractors, consultants and procurement teams evaluating the ICARELIFE Ceiling Laminar AC and Disinfection System — power, installation, air purification and maintenance.

Ceiling Laminar Flow Cold Plasma R410A DC Inverter Occupied-Room Safe
By ICARELIFE Technical Team Updated July 2026 Covers 4 categories Questions 12

At a glance

  • Ceiling laminar-flow indoor unit + single-phase 220V outdoor condensing unit, R410A pre-charged.
  • DC inverter drive — a native 220V/60Hz version is available for production orders.
  • Air purification by cold plasma module — safe for continuously occupied patient rooms.
  • Installed by local HVAC technicians; commissioning supported by remote video guidance.
  • No plasma consumables — the plasma cells are all-metal, lifetime components.

The questions below reflect real enquiries from professional buyers. If your project needs a detail not covered here, our technical team will answer it directly — see the enquiry link at the end of the page.

01 — Power & Electrical

Yes. The unit uses DC inverter technology, so the compressor and indoor fan motors are driven by the unit’s own inverter board rather than directly by the mains frequency. A native 220V/60Hz version is available for production orders (subject to minimum order quantity). Rated cooling/heating capacity and airflow remain unchanged at 60Hz.

The outdoor condensing unit is single phase, 220V. Key figures:

Power supplySingle phase, 220V
Total compressor input power3.96 kW
Full Load Amps (FLA)20 A
Locked Rotor Amps (LRA)29.3 A

Starting current is low relative to the running current because the inverter drive provides a soft start rather than a direct-on-line inrush.

Yes. The controller, display and remote operate normally on 60Hz supply. The control interface can be configured in English for export projects.

02 — Installation & System

Yes — it is a split-type system consisting of an indoor unit and an outdoor condensing unit. The refrigerant is R410A, and the unit is pre-charged at the factory. Additional charge for pipe runs beyond the pre-charged length is stated in the installation manual.

Installation — refrigerant piping, electrical connection and condensate drain — can be completed by qualified local HVAC technicians following the installation manual. Commissioning and start-up are supported by our engineers through live remote video guidance, so no factory technician needs to travel to site. A step-by-step commissioning procedure is provided.

Max refrigerant pipe run60 m
Max vertical rise (outdoor above indoor)30 m
Max vertical drop (outdoor below indoor)20 m
Recommended supply/return duct875 × 300 mm
Available external static pressure120 Pa

Duct sizing should be confirmed against the actual airflow and layout of the space during design.

Drain outletDN20
Drainage methodGravity — no drain pump required
Recommended drain slope3%
Trap (P-trap)DN20, minimum 5 cm depth

The outdoor unit has no separate drain connection, and the system requires no external water supply.

03 — Air Purification & Safety

Air purification is performed by the cold plasma module — specifically Coulomb-force plasma purification, which neutralises bacteria, viruses and odours in the air stream. The unit ships with a G4 pre-filter (approx. 46 mm) whose role is to protect the internal components. For projects that require additional particulate filtration, we recommend the installing contractor fits a suitable filter at the return-air opening, sized to the return grille. Higher-grade filtration can be specified on request. This unit is part of our wider medical airflow systems range.

Yes. The cold plasma module is engineered for low ozone output, with measured steady-state ozone around 0.03 mg/m³ (≈0.015 ppm). This sits well below recognised indoor air quality references, including GB/T 18883-2022 (0.16 mg/m³, 1-hour average), the WHO Air Quality Guideline and the FDA/UL 867 limit of 0.05 ppm for air cleaners. The unit is suitable for 24-hour operation in rooms occupied by patients and staff, with no meaningful ozone accumulation. A full explanation is available in our guide on plasma air disinfection safety.

Yes. Independent laboratory test reports covering the microbial kill and removal rates are available to qualified buyers on request, including the laboratory name and the full test method and standard. Please request these through our technical team.

04 — Maintenance & Consumables

The plasma cells are all-metal, lifetime components — there are no plasma consumable cartridges to replace. The only routine maintenance item is the G4 pre-filter, which is a standard commercial size and can be sourced locally; we recommend inspecting or replacing it every 3–6 months depending on site conditions.

Because the plasma cells are non-consumable, the main serviceable component is the high-voltage power module. Warranty terms for this module are confirmed per project in the commercial agreement. Please contact our team for the current warranty offer applicable to your order.

A note for specifiers: the strongest commercial advantage of this unit is total cost of ownership — no plasma consumables and no HEPA replacement cycle, combined with continuous operation in occupied spaces. We are happy to prepare a like-for-like comparison against filter-based systems for your project.
