Quick Answer

  • This surgical scrub sink FAQ covers the 12 questions asked most in real projects.
  • Material questions: composition, yellowing, cracking, antibacterial performance.
  • Selection questions: material choice, faucets, colors, neonatal models.
  • Delivery questions: export documents, service life, shipping damage.

Material Questions

A composite of pure acrylic resin (MMA), alumina trihydrate (ATH), and natural mineral fillers. It is non-porous, seamless when thermoformed, warm to the touch, and homogeneous through its full thickness — which is why it can be refinished in place.

Properly formulated pure acrylic solid surface resists yellowing per JC/T 908-2013 (ΔE ≤ 2 — imperceptible to the eye — over 10 years of normal indoor use). Yellowing is usually caused by prolonged direct sunlight or bleach-based cleaners, both avoidable in a scrub area.

Not under normal use. The material is tough and impact-resistant — superior to ceramics. Damage requires heavy sharp impact or excessive local pressure. Winter cold does not cause cracking (unlike ceramics), but avoid pouring boiling water onto a cold surface, which creates thermal shock.

It is intrinsic to the material. Silver-ion antibacterial agents are mixed into the acrylic formula during manufacturing — not applied as a surface coating. Third-party testing shows a ≥99.9% antibacterial rate against S. aureus and E. coli, and because there is no coating, there is nothing to peel or wear off.

It depends on the leading priority. Solid surface leads on seam-level infection control, splash behavior, ergonomics, customization, and 10-year cost of ownership. Stainless steel leads on initial price, high-temperature tolerance, local availability, and end-of-life recyclability. IPC-led specifications generally point to solid surface; budget-led or high-heat installations point to stainless steel.

Selection Questions

Sensor faucets: non-contact operation, better infection control, less water waste — recommended for clean operating rooms. Manual faucets: lower cost and lower failure rate — a sound choice for general clinics and budget-sensitive projects.

Yes. White is standard, and custom colors are available on request — confirm the available range with the supplier at enquiry stage. This is a meaningful advantage over stainless steel, which offers a single fixed finish.

Single station for day-surgery units under 10 procedures daily; double station for general hospitals at 10–30 procedures; triple station for tertiary hospitals above 30. Count peak scrub-in overlap between adjacent theaters — that, not the daily average, sets the real requirement.

Use a purpose-designed baby care combo unit rather than an adapted scrub sink. Basin depth and working height on these models are ergonomically optimized for infant bathing, and the same seamless solid surface construction applies.

Delivery & After-Sales Questions

A standard export package includes Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin (CO / FORM E), CE Declaration of Conformity, and the product specification sheet. For country registrations such as Saudi SASO or Indonesia BPFK, inform the supplier at project confirmation stage so the process starts early.

Design service life exceeds 15 years. Unlike stainless steel, the solid surface can be refinished in place — a light polish every 5–8 years restores the original gloss with no removal or replacement required.

Inspect the packaging on receipt and confirm condition before signing. If external damage is visible, refuse delivery and contact the supplier. If damage is found after unpacking, photograph it within 48 hours and report it — repair parts or replacement follow the damage assessment.
